Improved the daily life of my husband

Published on

My husband, Jonathan, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s seven years ago. He lives at home with me and I have three Carer’s to help.

Even with this level of one to one attention, pre Jelly Drops, it was impossible to keep him sufficiently hydrated. He would refuse all drinks for a whole day. I tried every drink you can think of.

To begin with we tried offering him Jelly Drops and leaving the box of Jelly Drops open beside him, he immediately accepted them and did then just help himself. But he also started playing with them.

If we put the lid down after he had eaten quite a few he got frustrated because he could see them through the plastic but couldn’t get them. Now we put six in a deep bowl so they don’t roll or slip away and top the bowl up as he eats them.

Interestingly he is now more willing to accept a drink. Such a brilliant idea.

You have solved a serious, life threatening problem which has enabled me to improve the daily life of my husband and made the Carers feel that they are being more successful at taking care of him
